Die Fiktion kann mittels lexikalisierter Gebärden oder mit nichtmanuellen Komponenten ausgedrückt werden. Werden lexikalisierte Gebärden verwendet, so stehen sie je am Anfang der beiden Sätze des Satzgefüges.
Es ist ebenfalls möglich auf die lexikalisierten Gebärden zu verzichten, indem die Fiktion in einem einleitenden Satz angekündigt wird.
